Celebrating the art of collaboration, Bond No. 9 has announced the arrival of a hot new spring 2010 fragrance for women called High Line; modeled after the reconverted High Line public space in New York city: “A fun floral in a very modern, industrial way,” describes High Line perfumer Le Guernec.
What’s Is High Line?High Line is a city park built a top a former elevated freight railroad. Before it was turned into a park, the line was in disrepair, although the riveted steel elevated structure was basically sound. Wild grasses, plants, shrubs, and rugged trees grew along most of the route. ‘The High Line, which opened in June 2009, has attracted 1.5 million visitors and was brought to fruition with the support of some of New York’s heaviest hitters. The green space and board walk is constructed atop the refurbished train tracks that ran up the west side, from the meatpacking district to Penn Station and was in danger of demolition 10 years ago.’ Today, the park welcomes visitors with naturalized plants by the self-seeded landscape that grew on the tracks. The park is a public trail that extends from Gansevoort Street north to 30th Street, where the elevated tracks turn west around the Hudson Yards development project, to the Javits Convention Center on 34th Street. Laurice Rahme, Bond No. 9 founder, has joined the association Friends of the High Line and will donate 4% of all proceeds to it.
Bond No. 9 hand selects each fragrance note from it’s artistic New York High Line garden. Walk through purple love grass and indian rhubarb as they travel across New York city partnered wirh bergamot and red rose leaf. Tulipe and grap hyacinth join to create orange flower water that rest on High Line’s bur oak. 11 High Lines characteristic notes were streamlined from the 200 species growing in the High Line park.
